A Little Nudge!

Just in case you need a teensy little nudge to convince you to try reading Judgment on Tartarus:

The focal character, Ensign Corona Scott ( Rona ), is an idealistic, career-driven young officer who has just been assigned to her first deep-space mission. She comes aboard her first ship, the retired battle cruiser Astrella II, with high hopes of advancing her career and fulfilling her life-long dreams. She's adventurous, though a bit timid, impulsive, and insatiably curious. Dismayed by the unexpected atmosphere of prejudice, bigotry, and outright hatred rampant aboard Astrella, she finds herself struggling valiantly to maintain an open mind and prove herself competent.

She soon begins to worry that her career in space is about to be deep-sixed! She comes into conflict with Astrella's legendary CO, Richard Hughes, who's notorious for his hair-trigger temper, no-nonsense attitude, and lack of sympathy for green ensigns! And his ExO, Malkis of Tartarus, despises Terran females and seems to have it out for Rona in particular! What's a girl to do?

I know my loyal followers have already read my first book, and I'm still soliciting reviews posted on Amazon.com's bookstore or elsewhere.

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

Every time I look up Judgment on Tartarus on Amazon.com I get another pleasant (so far!) surprise! Now they've finally activated the "Look Inside" feature, so you can actually see things like the back cover, table of contents, preface, and a random selection from the text. Almost like being in a brick-and-mortar bookstore!
And I have my first review. I'm still soliciting reviews from anyone who's finished reading. ( Obviously, I understand that if you haven't actually finished you can't yet give an honest review. ) But if/ when you finish, don't be shy; I'm shy enough for the both of us and then some.

Another pleasant surprise: Judgment made Broad Universe's list of recent releases. For those of you who missed my previous blogs, Broad Universe is an organization dedicated to promoting women writers of science fiction, fantasy, and horror---long thought to be fields of male writers. Character Driven

Going back for a moment to the "kind" of science fiction I write: though my books are set in a future when space travel between planets is possible, my stories are always about people, not hardware or theories. I write about their characters, what drives them, their relationships, problems, and the challenges they meet.

So of course I can't wait to see how readers react to my characters! Will they like Rona Scott---or find her too wishy-washy? Will they like---er,ah---well, at least respect Malkis of Tartarus? And what about Captain Richard Hughes with his hair-trigger temper and no-nonsense attitude?Will they be able to see past the facade to the man beneath it? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

The growing interest in Judgment on Tartarus is very encouraging, especially as I'm relying heavily on word-of-mouth advertising!
